Wrestle LIke A Girl

Commonwealth Games Clinic - Australia

The award winning Wrestle Like A Girl was founded by Sally Roberts, a 2x World Bronze Medalist in women’s wrestling on the premise that girls and women across the World should be afforded opportunities to participate in wrestling. The WLAG organization works to promote female wrestling and cultivate the whole athlete in developmental process.

This 2 day camp (make sure you select both days - your ticket is valid for both) will cover wrestling technique, as well as some extra special sessions with Suples Training Australia on conditioning and a guest appearance by Olympic Champion and World Champion, Helen Maroulis (USA).

Wrestling technique covered includes:

  • Stance and Motion
  • Handfighting
  • Single Leg
  • Double Leg
  • Arm Drags
  • Duck Unders
  • Front Headlock

We want as many Australian girls as possible and will form groups from beginner to advanced as well as underage to adults. Each participant will receive a tee shirt and lunch.

This is the first time Wrestle Like a Girl will be in Australia so we expect spots to be in short supply!

The goal of Empowerment Camps are to empower young female athletes through the sport of wrestling. Athletes will learn technical wrestling. They will also develop championship life skills like goal-setting, teamwork and resilience with an emphasis on hard work.
