Women’s Wrestling Fellowship: Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC

 

Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC is accepting applications for a part-time Fellow to champion our initiative to grow women’s wrestling in Washington DC. The position is funded through a grant from Fight for Children. The time commitment will be flexible depending on Fellow’s availability and skillset.

 

The Fellow will act as an advocate for women’s wrestling in the District, by working closely with the current leadership and staff on all activities pertaining to this particular initiative. The Fellow will be tasked with promoting and expanding women’s wrestling by finding coaches, facilitating demonstrations, communicating with our constituency, and spearheading the ongoing initiative.

The ideal candidate will be a professional with demonstrated interest in sports-based youth development programs who may have some experience or related education that is ready to take their career to the next level as the leader of an emerging initiative.
 
Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the ongoing campaign to promote women’s wrestling in Washington DC.

  • Facilitating recruiting events, engaging athletes and coaches, community outreach.

  • Track and monitor program metrics.

Required

  • Proficiency in the use of office computer programs to include MS Office Suite.

  • Excellent writing and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Adept at balancing multiple projects simultaneously while remaining mindful of pending deadlines.

Preferred

  • Previous Sports Based Youth Development, non-profit, or related education or experience.

  • Experience in writing, social media, public relations, and/or outreach.

  • Coaching and/or wrestling experience helpful but not required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Wrestling to Beat the Streets DC is a 501c(3) Sports-Based Youth Development (SBYD) nonprofit organization founded with the goal of using the sport of wrestling as a conduit for youth development opportunities in the Washington, DC region. WBTSDC facilitates the startup of wrestling programs by providing upfront costs in public high schools in under-served areas of Washington, DC, while providing ongoing support and year-round supplemental youth development programming for participating student-athletes.
